Curved Deck Gets New Life With Heat-Bent PVC in Duluth, MN

Location:

Duluth, MN

Materials Used:

  • TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking

Investment:

$5,000-$10,000

Hill and Harbor Construction restored a curved deck in Duluth, MN, where cracked and broken boards had made the steps unsafe. The homeowner wanted to repair the damaged perimeter sections and curved stairs for both safety and appearance while keeping the original deck. Seth Olson confirmed the existing structure was worth preserving, so replacing only the failed areas made the most sense.

Hill and Harbor removed the damaged boards and used heat-bending equipment to shape TimberTech Advanced PVC decking to the existing radius. Recreating the original radius required careful bending so the new boards follow the deck’s shape across both curved steps. Advanced PVC decking resists moisture and needs little upkeep, making it a dependable surface for steps used every day.

The homeowner now has safe, solid steps and a perimeter that follows the deck’s original curved design. Targeted replacement preserved the character of the existing deck while upgrading the failed areas to durable, low-maintenance PVC. The homeowner can use the curved steps with confidence again and enjoy the deck without worrying about cracked or broken boards.
