Hill and Harbor Construction was founded by Seth Olson to focus on low-maintenance, custom decks built to perform for decades. Every part of the company, from the materials selected to the way projects are managed, traces back to a simple standard. A deck should be safe, built right below the surface, and easy to enjoy without constant upkeep.

Seth spent his early career in office management before moving into reconstruction, where he managed a restoration company’s reconstruction department. That work gave him hands-on experience with structural repair, estimating, and coordinating complex projects under real deadlines. It also showed him how much of Duluth’s older housing stock struggles with the same underlying problems: Rot, undersized framing, and structures that were never built to last as long as the finish work suggests.

Seth founded Hill and Harbor Construction in 2025 to focus specifically on custom composite and PVC deck construction. Rather than take on a broad menu of general contracting work, he built the company around a narrower promise: Replace unsafe, aging decks with low-maintenance outdoor spaces, built correctly from the framing up. Every project still runs through Seth directly, from the first site visit to the final walkthrough.
